PTP: Transport versus boundary clock in broadcast environment

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The first four documents in the ST2110 standard suite, covering the transport of professional media over managed IP networks, have now been published. Unlike SMPTE 2022 streams where a complete SDI signal is encapsulated into one IP flow, ST2110 separates out the essence of the media into video, audio and metadata flows. Integral to the operation of ST2110 is the ability to re-synchronise these flows using PTP timestamps and to support legacy equipment through accurate reproduction of genlock. The ST2059 standard addresses the key timing parameters in such a system but consideration must also be given to the accurate transport of PTP signals throughout your IP network.
